Does it help to dream that you’re here with me in the sunshine or does it make you hate me? Or are you one of those crazies that think all that snow is beautiful? Well I don’t need to tell you how happy I am, again, to be living in Florida. I still haven’t gotten used to the fact that we are in shorts and up north is getting bombarded with snow. Maybe next winter I’ll get it but now it just doesn’t make a lot of sense in my head. Because I want to empathize I have the weather channel on, watching the snow accumulation totals, ad nauseam, because if I was up there that’s what I’d be doing. Of course the TV is to the left but this is what I’m looking at straight ahead:
As for the weekend update. ..On Friday Philip redeemed one of his Christmas Presents from me which was advertised as an Autocross experience driving a Ferrari or Lamborghini around a race track for 3 laps. He chose the Lamborghini and it wasn’t 3 laps around a race track, it was in a parking lot driving around cones. However, he still had a big smile on his face so I believe it was a successful gift.
Zener and I went for ice cream. I was being good so drank some ice coffee drink while she ate her ice cream. I’m getting kind of sick of the coffee drinks now. No two places make them the same. Sometimes they are loaded with sugar, other times loaded with milk so maybe I’ll just try drinking more water. Zenah had something to do at the school Friday night so the three of us went to Tijuana Flats for some Mexican fare. Not a big night.
Saturday we tried to get up early and hit the Dunedin farmers market which promised to be big. It was VERY windy. We got there and were once again disappointed by the limited number of vendors and no local produce. HOWEVER, we found out that it had been cancelled due to the wind so the ones that were there were the diehards or the ones that had already started setting up before they got the word to cancel. One of them told me there’s a lot more people/vendors there usually. Then we continued to walk around Dunedin. We love it there. Cute cute cute town. Saturday afternoon was Jorden’s game, they won, woo hoo, and they won against this really brutal hard-to-beat team so that was pretty exciting. It was really cold though, I know I know, it’s relative, but the temperature had been dropping and I was under a blanket freezing during the game. Oh and then the biggest news of all, I got my new phone!!
So I proceeded to sit in the chair and play with the phone until dark. Literally, until dark. I have texted some of you with my new number but there are quite a few, like A LOT of numbers that didn’t transfer over to my new phone so if you haven’t received a text from me with my new number and you want my new number, text my old phone and I’ll send it along. I am now really officially, officially a Florida resident. New Florida cell phone number. How cool am I?
Sunday was the best. Philip wanted to walk into our “village” and go to Lulus for breakfast. I was leery because of my feet but they have been so so much better these days so I went for it. I loaded “map my run” on my new phone and off we went. Lulus was closed (she does that on a whim, damn Florida people) so we walked around and ended up having lunch at Thirsty Marlins. I got a lobster Quiche, so Floridaesque. There is no other breakfast joint within walking distance. Anyhoo, at the end of the day we had walked 3.85 miles and were gone about the same, 4 hours. The weather was perfect. Beautiful sunshine, not too hot, not too cool, I think it was only 60 something but the sunshine is so darn wonderful. Sorry Mar, I forgot that stupid sunscreen again, but I swear I’ll get better. I ended the day going to Celestial Circle store for a metaphysical meetup. It was interesting. We love that store and can browse in there for hours. As soon as I walked in the door after that Zenah wanted me to take her driving. So of course I did. And then our big Sunday night dinner was Pizza from Pizza Hut. Does that make me a bad caregiver? Tonight is meatloaf so I hope to make up for my shortcomings over the weekend.
I am trying to get engaged more in my surroundings down here so am scheduling a few things to make not only my life more interesting but maybe even the blog more interesting. I mean seriously, how much longer can I dribble on about food, teens and dates? Although, I realized today there are 20 years (TWENTY) years between Zachary and Jorden. I don’t know what it means but I think it might have something to do with sainthood for me. And quite an interesting tid-bit to think about. At least for me.
So this week I’m going horseback riding on Thursday morning, yes I am. By myself. (Wishing Aimee was here with me) Western riding unfortunately, but there was a groupon for an hour trail ride for $25 and I’m going. Weather report says sunny and 68. So there’s that, Friday is a new hair do and I’m going drastic. Not sure what but it’ll be short I know that. And then I’m registered for Hospice volunteer training for 5 Fridays in a row in February. I’ve gotta step it up a notch here. My college training was in hospice care – well sort of ended up being that so maybe it’s time I should get back into it. In Pittsburgh I was volunteering to hold babies bringing them into the world and now maybe I’ll volunteer holding them as they leave it. Kinda poetic isn’t it? We will see.
That’s it for today. I have to get to the post office, in my shorts.
