We need a bigger house. We had all the children last night and I want them all to live here. Of course, I’d probably change my mind after a day or two, but what a nice weekend we had.

Jimmy came in Friday around noon. It was pretty chilly but still warmer than Columbus, much warmer. We went home to “check in” and then I took him on a neighborhood tour on the way to the beach for lunch. Phil and Zener met us and we all ate at the beach. It was freezing. Okay not freezing freezing, but even the beach hut had the side thingies down keeping the wind out. We were the only ones there. BUT we still had a lovely time. Walked on the beach after eating where Jimmy shot this perfect pic:

We also got some nice shells. Lots of ocean (Gulf) debris was washed up on shore after some storm apparently. We brought home coral and some shells.

After that we headed to Zenah’s LAX game. She had gotten the game ball for the previous game and this game they didn’t put her in at all. Go figure. I kept stats. Phil and Jim sat on the sidelines. Jimmy said it felt like a fall night at a Football game – so it was pretty chilly. Out to dinner at our neighborhood Pizza place and then:

Mom’s house, cookies, milk, blanket, snoring. Doesn’t get any better than that!

It was a great first day.

Saturday we got up at the crack of dawn and drove an hour to catch the last 20 minutes of Jorden’s soccer game. I wanted to drive back up the coast so he could see the sites but it was raining so hard we just drove home.

And there was rain:

And more rain:

So this was our day:

cozy in front of the fire, sleeping and watching movies.

The day ended with a trip to the stores.  It finally stopped raining.

Jimmy wanted some new clothes and he was very successful!!   We did Old Navy and the mall and he got a ton of stuff. He was very pleased with his purchases. I had intended on making meatloaf that night but it got so late that we ate at the food court. I felt like a real bad mommy. He came all this way and ate Wendy’s for dinner, but ya know, I can’t do everything. I mean I can… but I didn’t.

Saturday night we ended up seeing a late showing of the movie Kingsmen. We didn’t love it. It’s very violent, like graphic violence. It was ok.

Sunday was a beautiful day. After a home cooked breakfast, Jim and I took off for the beach.

Zenah had two LAX games. The first game nobody went to because I was off to the beach and Philip was trying to catch up on stuff. She played ¾ of the game and they won and she played really well. The second game I was picking Zachary up at the airport so Jim and I didn’t go, but all the Bakers went and they didn’t put her in. High school sports….they make you crazy.

Backing up, so Jim and I went to Clearwater Beach where I proved what a bad mom I am. I don’t know what I was thinking but since he missed all of Saturday and had no sun he (we) decided that it wasn’t the end of the world to skip the sunscreen. OMG. I almost killed him. First though we had a lovely time on the beach. It was very crowded, pretty hot, and the water was freezing, so really there’s no cooling off on days like that. But still it was nice. When we got home he exploded with sunburn. I mean EXPLODED.   If he was younger CYS probably would have cited me. But today I think he was looking pretty bronze so the good news is it kinda worked. He got a lot of sun so he looks like he was in Florida for the weekend.

Can you see the sunburn? Poor Jimbo

We picked Zachary up at the airport and headed home where everyone got to meet. Then we had a darn good dinner, if I do say so myself, and the evening ended up with all of us on the pool patio playing guitars. Even Philip was playing (he’s sooo good). It was so nice I wanted to cry. Tashah got a picture of all of us with her fancy new camera but I’m not sure when I’ll get a copy of it. You will see it as soon as I do.

We all stayed up too late and after a very few hours of sleep, Zach and I took Jimmy to the airport. It was sad. But we have broken the ice now and he sees how easy it is to get here, relatively cheap (relatively) and of course who wants to be in snow and ice when you can come here and have your mom make you peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, at the beach? Who?

Zachary and I went to a very early breakfast (dropped Jimmy at around 7:00 am) and then we headed to the beach. It was foggy but cleared up very nicely. We walked for 5.5 miles. My feet are KILLING me. Took 4 hours. He never took his shirt off and again no sunscreen (I wore my 50 spf on my face). I don’t think either of us thought we’d walk that long. We just lost track of time. Anyway, I may never walk again.

Then picked up the girl and went to lunch. They both had ice cream for lunch (I had chicken salad) See? Still a good parent.

Tonight I’ll try and get that meatloaf together and then hoping to take him to the beach for sunset. That should be nice. Tomorrow he wants to go back to the beach and “sit” (thank God). I will make sure he wears sunscreen.

You know this constant entertaining is tough. I mean I have to make so many beach trips. Do we walk on the beach? Eat at the beach? Lay or sit on the beach? Then do we go for ice cream? Shop? I mean so many tough decisions.

Until mañana,

It was great hearing about your wonderful visit with your boys. The Bakers and you and your family combined make a wonderful family. Cheers!
