Just got to the Island this afternoon. I stayed the weekend with the Baker bunch over in Ozona and then drove to Pine Island to catch the ferry. Uncle Zach (yes I know he’s my cousin) surprised me by being there waiting at the dock for me. I was expecting to take the water taxi but he said he wanted to be there. There’s still a lot of crying going on even though it’s been 6 months since Aunt Lynn died. I still can’t believe she willed to “me” the Dollhouse. I also can’t believe that in the year 2046 there’s not a quicker way to get here, but the boat ride with Uncle Zach was nice too. He brought the dogs, Deek and Elsie. Apparently he never goes anywhere without them. I’ll text more later. Love M

Of course Aunt Lynn would will you the Dollhouse. You were the one that spent most of your summers there with her. Most of us thought it was too boring but you were the one that loved it. It’s not like the Island is out of the family anyway. Zachary and Rachel live in the main house. Dimmy still owns the big house on the point. I mean it’s a family Island. Just enjoy yourself. Let me know what you find. xoxox

It’s exactly how I remember it. Small and so adorable. I had dinner over at Uncle Zach’s last night. I’ll probably go over later for dinner again. Today I started going through some of Lynn’s things. I found a big bin full of pictures. That’s what you call them, right? “pictures?” Lots of pictures of you and Mimi, when you were little. Look how cute you were.

So many pictures of people I don’t know. But look at this one:

Who is this? He looks just like cousin Charley. The resemblance is really weird.

I also found this one. Do you know who this is that Aunt Lynn is with? There was a few of this guy but I have no idea who he is:

I’m going to walk up to Alyna’s restaurant for lunch. She’s not here today. She only comes maybe about once a month just to check in. Where does she stay when she visits? Do you know? She can stay here and I can stay over at Uncle Zach’s if she needs to.

I can’t believe you found that picture. That’s Uncle Dennis. He’s Zachary’s dad. Aunt Lynn was married to him until Zach was like 7 or 8 or so. He does look exactly like Charley.

I don’t know who the other guy is. I’m going to go see Aunt Di today. I’ll ask her, assuming she can see the picture. As long as she wears her glasses she should be able to see it. I’ll get back to you.

Also, Alyna has her own house there on the Island.  How do you not know that?

PS – the twins got chosen for two of the leads in the Bunko-ettes. Kinda kismitty that Aunt Lynn wrote that play and they got chosen for two of the parts.

So proud of those twins. Tell them I’ll be back by the end of the week.

I walked on the path this morning and found Mallie’s marker. Aunt Lynn loved that dog. I also found pictures of her other dogs Sam, Allie and Max and Rooster. I remember Sam. He was sooo big.

Also found this letter from Aunt Tracy to cousin Belinda. Something about being sorry, please come home. Wonder what that was about.

Dimmy comes in tonight on his helicopter (so I guess there is a quicker way to get here). He’s hosting some private party on the Island this weekend and bringing in some bands. Something about a tribute to someone named Jimmy Buffet. Do you know that name? I think I’ve heard of him. He has something to do with the Island apparently. You know Dimmy never comes without his entourage so I imagine things will be picking up when he arrives.

Gotta love Dimmy. Can’t believe that name has stuck with him all these years. Poor Jimmy, but hey he seems to love it.

Aunt Di says that picture that we didn’t know is Aunt Lynn’s first boyfriend, Howard. Di didn’t really know him (believe it or not) He was even before her time. Hard to believe there was anyone in Aunt Lynn’s life before Aunt Di. Anyway, she says they were in item in High School. xoxox

Thanks Mum,

I have one more box to go thru. It is so sad going through this stuff.  A lifetime of someone’s memories just over.  Like what is one’s life worth?  Well her life was obviously “worth” alot but still so many memories, so many people in her life and we have no idea who they are or what they meant to her.  I don’t know what to do with them all.  Zach and Dimmy say they have all the pictures they want. Should I just throw them away then?

I’m going to hang out for the weekend with the old guys (Dimmy and Uncle Zach) and then head back to the mainland and home. Thanks again for watching the twins. I’ll let you know if I find anything else. xoxoxo

As I was packing to leave I found this in a box by the bed. Needless to say I can’t stop crying.

My dearest Mya,

Not like we haven’t gone through my stuff a hundred times in the past but I’ve been saving this one for you. This ring meant a lot to me a long time ago. Most of the history of it revolves around me, your Great Uncle Dennis who you’ve never met, your favorite Uncle Zach and your Mimi. It’s not a big fancy anything but it meant a lot to me at one point. Hope you like it. Have it made into a necklace maybe?

I always enjoyed our time together here on the Island. Enjoy the Dollhouse. Bring those twins here and let them enjoy some nature once in a while. I love you, see you on the other side. Aunt Lynn xoxox

Today’s Prompt: Imagine you had …to sift through forgotten or lost belongings. Describe a day in which you come upon something peculiar, or tell a story about something interesting you find in a pile.

On day four, you wrote about losing something. On day thirteen, you then wrote about finding something. So, today’s twist: If you’d like to continue our serial challenge, also reflect on the theme of lost and found more generally in this post.

Until manana,

So I am hooked, almost like I am on the Outlander series. I figured out M quickly. You are doing great Ms. Creative Blogger! Looking forward to more.

  2. I LOVE Outlander!! Maybe I’ll come up with a time traveler theme story some day. Thanks for reading. xoxo

Nice job Lynn. While reading I was yelling – it’s Howard! It’s true I didn’t know him during the high school years – but remember – he made a comeback during our Bradford days 🙂
